Being raised Southern Baptist I have always wondered why Christian churches preach so heavily against witchcraft, when it's a way to grow closer to the Divine, learn about yourself, and learn more about the world around me. Reading in the Bible I find numerous cases of leaders consulting mediums, diviners, and prophets. And often the prophets worked magic! So what is the problem? Power.
Power is, and has always been, the motivating force behind the Jewish and later Christian hierarchies. Tell the people the only way to communicate with the Divine is through a select few, and the people are dependent on you. They need rain for their fields and a blessing for their children? If they can't sacrifice to their god(s), bless, pray, or worship without the consent of a few, the people are powerless. All control over what they think, believe and are able to do is stripped away. This doesn't mean that a leadership structure isn't needed. A leadership structure should be there to help teach and train, to pass on knowledge. Not to be a dictatorship that restricts or forbids contact with the Divine.

1 Samuel 15:23 in the New King James version reads, "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry." In the time that 1 Samuel was written the Jewish people wanted a King of the Jews to rule them and unify them as a new nation. The Jewish leaders realized that to do this would destroy their relationship with the government, and they would no longer receive the protection and benefits of being citizens. So what do they do? Create fear. To do witchcraft - sacrifice to your god yourself without a priest, to divine your own future, and to pray to your god directly - is rebellion. How can you be unified if the people are rebellious? Look what happened to Moses. The people rebelled and God punished them. Believe you are right and become stubborn? Then you are a sinner and as bad as the idolaters who worship the gods of the ruling government as well as Y-HW-H, the Jewish god. All past stories for the Jews taught that those who worship false gods are the reason they've been enslaved. God will be mad at them for having different opinions and punish them yet again.

A good Jew would be very familiar with the books of the Law and Moses. Deuteronomy 32:35-36 reads, "Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.’ 36 “For the LORD will judge His people and have compassion on His servants, When He sees that their power is gone, and there is no one remaining, bond or free." Disobey and god will take vengeance. He will destroy you and your entire family; he will be sure all power is stripped from you. Power and fear.

Power remained the motivating force as the Holy Roman Catholic Church sprang up under the Roman Empire. Power dictates their command structure, their influence over people, and why their priests are raised above the "lay people". The priests were always from the highly educated. They studied history and the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic texts. They knew that fear and power are the cornerstones for the control they lust after. Their priests were deemed the average persons way of communicating with the Divine. They teach that the Divine will not communicate directly with all people, only through Saints or their ordained ones.

But what happens when people, these witches, laugh at them and say they have direct connection with the Divine? That what the Church teaches is obviously wrong and the people can know this through their own experiences? Their power base is threatened. The whole reason they exist becomes obsolete. Persecutions, wars, and genocides ensue to terrorize the people and to create an iron fist for the Church to rule with. Don't follow the Church? Burn in eternal flames with no rescue. Commit a heresy (the definition of which changes every 50 years if not sooner)? Burn in eternal flames with no rescue.

Judaism, even though its prophets were diviners and Jewish mysticism is still a practiced form of magic, has always taught against witchcraft to maintain power over its people. The Catholic Church has continued this practice, and proclaimed the torture and slaughter of millions to maintain their power. Power and fear, that's why Christianity preaches against witchcraft.

You are have a spark of the Divine within you.

You can communicate directly with the Divine and experience the Divine in a number of ways. It is not wrong to worship, pray, and divine. Each person is an agent of free will on their own path of spiritual development. A High Priestess or High Priest can help you along your path by passing on knowledge and techniques to you.

They are never a replacement for your connection with the Divine; being a witch means you are responsible for yourself.

Today, March 20th 2012, is the Spring Equinox often called Ostara (Germanic Goddess of Spring) or Eostre (Saxon version of Ostara). It is the time for celebrating fertility, new life and renewal. The Germanic tribes would celebrated this as the time when Ostara, a lunar goddess, mated with a fertility god (giving birth nine months later to the renewed god at Yule).

Interestingly it is not only the time celebrated by pagans for new life and renewal, but also celebrated by the Jews and Christians. The Jewish Passover feast is celebrated at this time in remembrance of the Angel of Death passing over the Jewish houses in Egypt that painted their doorways with the blood of lambs. Christian Easter is celebrated as the time when Jesus was crucified and rose again.

The full moon following the vernal (spring) equinox - the same as the feast day of Eostre. All are stories of blood, death and renewal. Despite ardent attempts through two millenias to separate themselves from their pagan neighbors, Judaism and Christianity follow the flow of nature just like the pagans; exception being the Celts who didn't celebrate Ostara as a holiday.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">With an economy in depression, a nation divided on every issue, and christian prophecies about the anitchrist coming from domestic government, the number of anti-government militias is on the rise. The following article was originally written by and published on MSN.com under US News on March 8, 2012. The lead photo is from the Christian militia group Hutaree's 2010 training video. Many militia groups are centered around Christian sects that are anti-Semetic, anti-gay and neo-Nazi.
Nine were arrested and charged with conspiring to kill police officers, then kill scores more by attacking a funeral using homemade bombs.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The election of President Barack Obama in 2008 triggered an explosion in the number of militias and so-called patriot groups in the United States, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported in its annual tally of such anti-government organizations. There were 149 militias and patriot groups when Obama took office, compared to more than 1,200 today — an increase of 755 percent, the nonprofit civil rights organization reported. "The increase has just been astounding," said Mark Potok, editor-in-chief of <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">the SPLC report<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">. "The reality is that many of these groups are becoming more and more fearful that Barack Obama will win the re-election. You can see the anger rising along with that fear."

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The SPLC defines the "patriot" movement as made up of conspiracy-minded individuals who see the federal government as their primary enemy. The movement includes paramilitary militias as well as groups of "sovereign citizens," who believe they are not subject to federal or state laws, nor obligated to pay federal taxes, according to SPLC. The center also reports a steady rise in the number of hate groups in America — from 604 in 2000, to more than 1,000 last year. Those include anti-gay groups, anti-Muslim groups, black separatists and "Christian Identity" groups, which hold racist and anti-Semitic views that overlap with neo-Nazi beliefs.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The spike in these groups can be attributed to a combination of factors, including the sluggish economy, radical propaganda and anxiety over the election of a black president, Potok said.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Potok said although many individuals involved in patriot militias are not criminals, a handful of these groups have been responsible for a significant amount of violence in recent years.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Government employees targetedSPLC provides one of the few annual reports on militia or anti-government groups. The Federal Bureau of Investigation does not track militia groups unless they are alerted to violent or extremist activity, according to an agency spokesman. "Some of these groups veer into violent extremism," said Frank Harrill, special agent in charge of the FBI’s office in Spokane, Wash., and spokesman for the Inland Northwest Joint Terrorism Task Force. "Where hate and ignorance and violence collide, that is where our interests lie." Two militia groups have made headlines in recent years for allegedly hatching violent plots to target government employees.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Seven people from the Michigan-based Hutaree Christian militia are on trial for allegedly conspiring to ambush and kill a police officer. They allegedly plotted to follow up the ambush with an attack on the officer’s funeral procession in the hope of killing more officers, and thus sparking a revolt against the U.S. government. Recent evidence presented in trial included a recording made by an undercover FBI agent in which the militia’s leader, David Stone, 47, says he is going to "start huntin'" police soon. The seven have pleaded innocent, and argue that the "plot" was nothing but talk, protected by the First Amendment. And in November four members of a Georgia-based militia, all in their 60s and 70s, were charged with plotting to buy explosives and the ingredients to make a deadly toxin to attack government officials. They are in custody awaiting trial. But members of other militias say that exercising their constitutional right to bear arms does not mean they are committed to revolution.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Spokane-based militia member Ed LeStage, 59, denied that his group, the 63rd Battalion of Lightfoot Militia, which was listed on as an active militia group in the SPLC’s report, was a danger — unless, he said, "you're a communist or socialist who attacks us." LeStage, a veteran to the patriot movement, said he believes the increased number of militias comes from U.S. citizens’ desire to restore the country to its constitutional roots. He also said that what he called President Obama’s intrusion on personal liberties also has driven growth in the movement. "He’s been after our guns," LeStage said. "Obama’s been the best gun salesman there ever was."

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">From his home in eastern Washington, LeStage broadcasts weekly training videos to militia members across the country. Those videos — which include instruction on such things as drinking one’s own urine and scavenging for food — are meant to help members survive anarchy or economic collapse. LeStage said he has been involved in militias and related groups for more than 20 years, including the Idaho Mountain Boys, a member of which was arrested in September 2002 for plotting to kill a federal judge and a police officer.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">"(Raugust) is just a friend," LeStage said. "He doesn’t belong to our unit. He is a convicted felon." LeStage explained that his militia requires each member to obtain a concealed weapons permit. As a felon, Raugust is not allowed to carry weapons, LeStage said. The patriot movement first peaked in 1994, said Potok, the author of the SPLC report, in the aftermath of deadly confrontations at Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992 and Waco, Texas in 1993, where anti-government groups came under siege by federal authorities. Membership then dropped sharply during President George W. Bush’s two terms before rebounding in late 2008 after the election of Obama, which created a backlash that included "several plots to murder Obama," according to SPLC. The numbers of those groups have continued to grow, jumping from 824 in 2010 to 1274 this year, the SPLC said.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">'Sovereign citizen' movementThe ailing economy also helped fuel a huge expansion in a subset of the larger Patriot movement — the so-called "sovereign citizens" movement. Followers generally believe they do not have to pay federal taxes or follow most laws. The SPLC estimates some 300,000 Americans are involved in the movement. In September, the <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">FBI issued a bulletin <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">to law enforcement officials that called "sovereign citizens" a growing domestic threat due to some members’ belief that they can use armed force to resist police.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">The bulletin noted that sovereigns have killed six law officers since 2000. In one of the more deadly clashes, a shootout in West Memphis, Ark., in 2010 left four people dead including two officers. Terry Nichols, convicted as a conspirator in the Oklahoma City bombing, was a sovereign citizen. In 2010, a shootout with a member of the group in West Memphis, Arkansas ended with four people dead, including two policemen.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Last month, a Texas man who said he was a sovereign citizen was sentenced to 35 years in prison for repeatedly firing at a police officer trying to arrest him.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">A Washington state man, David R. Myrland, was sentenced in December to 40 months in prison for threatening to "arrest" the mayor of Kirkland and other local officials "with deadly force." Investigators said Myrland sent an e-mail to the mayor warning that "50 or more concerned Citizens will enter your home and arrest you. Do not resist, as these Citizens will be heavily armed." "As sovereign citizens' numbers grow, so do the chances of contact with law enforcement and, thus, the risks that incidents will end in violence," the FBI said at the time. From LeStage’s point of view, though, the risk comes from the top of government.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">If Obama is re-elected this year, "we will probably lose our republic," he said. "We will probably turn into another socialist country." On his website <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">www.modernmilitiamovement.com<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">, some forum members have raised even more dire concerns about the fall's elections.
...oh the reasons to use scientific names.

Herbs is a term referring to a plethora of plants from around the world. An herb can be any type or part of a plant, to include trees, shrubs, leaves, roots, bark, stems, and flowers. The simplest definition of an herb is merely a plant which is useful. Uses for herbs range from medicinal to magickal. However there is a lot of misinformation floating around from people creating their own correspondences to correlate herbs with elements, various folk names and home remedies. The worst mistakes tend to occur when witches interested in using herbs don't do their research. Because plants can often survive in a variety of climates, the same plant may go by 10 or more different folk names. Before harvesting, burning, ingesting or using an herb in a poultice or oil, please find out the scientific name and insure it is not an irritant or poison.
An example of an irritant which is not recommended for home remedy use without careful research is St John's Wort. Luckily many in the magickal community label it as a poison thanks to Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs listing it as such. Though in my recent herbal order it was not labeled with any form of warning or caution. It is easy to become confused because St John's Wort has gained popularity for its medicinal uses to alleviate depression and improve the mood. St John's Wort is an irritant which can cause skin rash, indigestion and have many negative side effects with medications. Do not prescribe that someone takes St John's Wort internally if you are not a certified herbalist and the patient has not consulted first with their medical doctor about possible drug interactions. Such a warning would be wise for that eBay supplier to include. I wonder if they would sell Bella Donna or Oleander without a warning as well? (Both are lethal poisons sometimes used in spellcraft.)

A less severe example is one I came across this week when trying to find the elemental correspondence to Arrow Root. A website I found had another folk name for Arrow Root as Yarrow. Completely different plants. According to the Smithsonian Handbook of Herbs, Yarrow (achillea millefolium) has a peppery flavored leaf, with the flower tops used as a diuretic and to reduce blood pressure. It can cause the skin to be overly sensitive to sunlight and shouldn't be ingested during pregnancy. Whereas Arrow Root (maranta arundinacea) is used as a culinary and cosmetic thickening agent, and can be eaten as a thin gruel for convalescing children. Though not a potentially lethal mistake, the plants are completely different with different uses, properties, growth climates and appearances. According to Cunningham Yarrow is sometimes called Arrow Root in folk magic, but is not the same as what is commonly referred to nowadays as Arrow Root. So always identify plants by their scientific names not their folk names!

Another quick example, I had ordered an herbal sampler which included "calendula". I had never heard of this herb and was excited to get it and research it. Upon receiving it I thought it looked and smelled awfully familiar. Turns out calendula officinalis is the scientific name for marigold. Odd the seller chose to use the name calendula when all the other herbs she labeled under their common names.
Persephone had eaten 6 pomegranate seeds in the Underworld and was so bound to remain with Hades (much like the warnings that to eat in Faeryland will trap you there). As Demeter wept the Earth became cold and lifeless, falling into a deep winter. Seeing that the Earth was becoming bleak like the Underworld, Hades returned Persephone to Demeter, with the promise that 6 months out of the year Persephone would return to the Underworld with him. Photograph: David Levene for the Guardian

When Ade's aunt learned he was gay, the then 16-year-old Nigerian was made to go through an exorcism to expel "the demon of homosexuality". "The priest came to the house with candles, holy water and anointing oils. I had to kneel down, holding candles in my hands," recalls Ade, now 25, as he sits in a cafe in Lagos. He does not wish to reveal his full name. "He kept shouting 'Come out! Come out! Come out!' in a fevered voice … I was allowed to go back to church after that but I had to pretend to be straight."

In a country where homosexuality is punishable by up to 14 years in prison, it is no surprise that many of Ade's friends – those who, like him, are both gay and religious – stay away from church altogether for fear of being outed. However, an alternative could soon be at hand. Ade is helping to resurrect a religious refuge for himself and his friends. He is part of the team restarting House of Rainbow, the country's only gay church, which was forced to close in 2008 after a witch-hunt stirred by exposés in local newspapers.

The Rev Rowland Jide Macaulay, the gay minister who founded the church, is leading the comeback even though he remains in self-imposed exile in London. "Religion is a backbone to life in Nigeria, so we all want to go to church," he says. "But we don't want to lie to God about who we are."
Macaulay first set up House of Rainbow in 2006, when he openly held Sunday services in a Lagos hotel hall decked out with rainbow flags. A public backlash culminated in members being beaten as they left church. Macaulay fled to the UK after death threats.

This year, he has recruited a small team that includes Ade as his local leader in Lagos. In his voluntary role, Ade started holding prayer sessions and Bible study groups at his house at the end of last month. A full church might be set up again if it is considered safe. The project could even spread beyond the borders of Africa's most populous country. Macaulay has recently recruited a local leader in Accra, the capital of nearby Ghana. He is considering applications from Rwanda and Zimbabwe. Religious groups are central to Nigeria's culture of homophobia. Pentecostalism, an evangelical school of Christianity thought to have started in America just over a century ago, has blossomed in southern Nigeria and across Africa in recent decades. The "megachurches" in and around Lagos can attract tens of thousands of worshippers to a single service.

Pentecostal pastors often see gay desire as the work of demons. "You might start casually but, once you get into it, you will be possessed by the spirit," says Emmanuel Owoyemi, a pastor in Lagos.
Meanwhile, in Nigeria's mostly Muslim north, 12 states have adopted sharia law over the last decade. Gay sex carries the death penalty under sharia, although no executions have yet taken place. A national anti-gay marriage bill, which pushes for jail sentences for anyone who even assists gay marriage, has been before Nigeria's parliament since 2009. Being gay is regarded as an offence across much of Africa. Uganda's parliament continues to debate a proposed law that would introduce the death penalty in some cases. Malawi's president only pardoned a gay couple last year sentenced to 14 years in jail after an international outcry.

Apart from being on the wrong side of the law, many homosexual Nigerians say exclusion from church is one of the hardest parts of being gay. "We are brought up to believe that you should belong to a religion. We feel that, if we don't go to church, God will not answer our prayers," says a young gay man in Abuja, Nigeria's capital. "When I recently told a friend I was having financial difficulties, he said, 'When did you last go to church?'" In oil-rich Nigeria, where corruption robs many of even basic services, religious groups provide more than spiritual assistance. Muslim movements such as Izala have built schools in the north, while southern pentecostal groups such as the Redeemed Christian Church of God run universities. "[We] lose out on all these services," says the young man.

Some argue that African homophobia is slowly waning. Marc Epprecht, an expert on sexuality in Africa at Queen's University in Canada, says the continent's growing number of gay rights groups are challenging negative stereotypes. He adds that despite the bad press it attracts, African homophobia is not markedly stronger than that of poor or patriarchal parts of the Middle East and South America.
Macaulay, however, is not taking any chances this time. Prayer sessions are being held in secret locations. No unknown newcomers are being admitted. He continues to preach via YouTube from London – he thinks it would be unwise to return home. "We have learnt our lesson," he says. "It is a hostile situation."

Read more at www.AdvancedWitchcraft.blogspot.com!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5182842325458464991.post-44624068921973802052012-01-09T15:30:00.001-06:002012-01-09T15:41:33.677-06:00Sister Kills Brother, Accused Him of Witchcraft
Relatives Accused in Witchcraft Killing
Yes, but even wishes take work. If someone else is performing the spell for you, or if you're just tossing a coin in a wishing well, you still have preparation and follow up to do for the wish to work. Energy flows along the path of least resistance wether it's electricity, water, air, pressure or magick. Saying a wish will never come true creates a block to the energy of the wish. It's like putting up a damn to block the wish from getting to you and affecting your life. So before doing a spell or asking for a wish, you must truely believe it will work. You must be open and ready for it to work. Not being ready for a spell to work is a mistake even the most advanced witch can make.

I'm a fan of the tv series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. On the show Buffy is killed and Willow, a powerful witch, plans a spell to bring her back to life. The spell works, and Buffy comes back to life where she was left. In her grave. Before doing a spell or asking a wish, be ready to receive it! After completing your spell or wishing, let it go. Release the energy with the confidence it will do your will. Then forget about it. Don't worry or be negative about it. That will only work to pull the energy back to you, creating fractures in the energy and possibly dissolving the effectiveness of your spell or wish. A common rule in witchcraft is to not speak of a spell once it is done, at least until the sun sets again.
If the rolls are a little burnt, the turkey dry and the center piece chipped, just laugh it off with your family and friends and be grateful for the laughter.

With refrigerators, grocery stores, freezers and preservatives we often forget the blessings of the harvest and the hunt. This is a time for feasting and celebration as the last harvest is brought in before the harsh winter turns the Earth fully dormant. It is also deer and turkey hunting season to both prepare our families for the winter by smoking and drying meat, and to thin the animal populations so that they won't starve from overpopulation during the cold winter. Life is cyclical and of necessity includes death; the death in the harvest and the death in the hunt. The old is cleared away so that the new may surface again in the Spring. This truth often brings thoughts of loved ones who aren't here to celebrate with us because they have passed. Take a moment to share an uplifting memory of those who have passed, and then let it go. Don't focus on what is gone, but remain in the present. Focus on those around you and the joy of their presence.

Also make time today to think of the people you interact with daily. Do you know what their plans are? Too many spend the holidays alone, forgotten and depressed. The loss of loved ones can be felt strongly at these times, and some can't celebrate with family because they live too far away. Ask others what their plans are. If they're not planning anything, invite them over! Friends and neighbors bless our lives with smiles and their presence each day we see them. Even if someone is less than friendly, the kindness of welcoming them into your home for a meal during a time set aside for gratitude can change a life.

As you cook, add magick to your meal by blessing the herbs before using them. As you knead the bread or stir a dish, add magickal intentions of blessings, health and joy for those who eat it. Place a piece of every item you prepare onto your altar. This is special fair set aside for the gods, fae and spirits to feast upon as a show of your remembrance and gratitude. Have fun adorning your altar with harvest colors - I add spice scented, orange candles, a brown with white embroidered leaf cloth and ceramic pumpkins. Then when all are gathered around the table remember to pause and share a prayer of gratitude before enjoying your meal. Thank the Goddess for her many blessings from the harvest, and thank the God for his many blessings from the hunt - even if your harvest and hunt took place in the grocery store as mine mostly will :)

Read more at www.AdvancedWitchcraft.blogspot.com!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5182842325458464991.post-10639110065994258662011-11-11T17:46:00.000-06:002011-11-11T17:46:12.451-06:00To our Heroes...Yesterday was the 236th birthday of the Marine Corps and today is Veterans Day. Semper Fi Marines! Thank you for your sacrifices in the air, on land and at sea. To all our veterans thank you for your sacrifice around the world. Without our Heroes, and those who are now our Angels, we would not have the freedoms we hold dear. Because of you, we choose our leaders, we exercise our inalieable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. May today find you in your loved ones arms, and if not, may you be in safety and know you are one day closer to being home.

Blessings and gratitude to you, our Heroes
Read more at www.AdvancedWitchcraft.blogspot.com!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5182842325458464991.post-82818926501274900452011-11-10T21:01:00.002-06:002011-11-10T21:01:57.484-06:00Core of Self
If you can't control yourself, how do you expect to control your magick? Control doesn't mean having no emotions - Spok was not a magical creature. Often times working up emotions can be a way to raise power. However, to affectively aim and release that power towards our intention we have to remain in control of ourselves. Becoming hysterical raises chaotic energy, but if there's no bubble holding it together or orb it's being fed into to throw towards our objective, what good is it? The best way I have found to control myself while connecting with an emotion to feed my work is by a method I call "Core of Self".

"Core of Self" is my way of dropping into myself. I can feel emotions, thoughts and energy swirling around me, but the center of Self is like the eye of a storm. There is peace and certainty there. Before starting energy work ground and center yourself - find the Core of Self. Cast your Circle or define what you will feed energy into, then reaching outward, raise the energy around you. For some spells I will raise energy within myself, then lift it up and out; but for some spells I find it may be safer to raise the energy outside of my core. This technique is a delicate one - the greater the power, the greater the control you need. It's like creating a whirlpool in the ocean.

To protect your core Self from the energy you raise, because sometimes the intent of your spell is not one you wish to absorb for yourself, is done through protection magick. Strengthening your aura and creating layers of inner walls is necessary to separate the core when need be. There are several protective meditations I will do to accomplish this. All protective meditations I have come across work to strengthen the outter most layers of aura and mind. To strengthen the inner ones and to create new layers within yourself, you must learn to travel inwards.

Focus on pulling your energy from the room around you down into yourself. Then step by step draw the energy from your extremeties towards your stomach. Move your consciousness from your head to your stomach. Find yourself walking on a path. Is this path lit or is it dark? Is it outside or inside a structure? Note details using all your senses. This path leads you to a door. Open it and enter your core, the dwelling of Self. This is where I have found my Self; the inner part of me that many would describe as my guide because it is not in human form. I do not consider it my guide because it is part of me. Explanations are not necessary, spoken words are not necessary. Mental images, emotions and energy are our forms of communication. There is no distinction between me and Self except what I perceive; it is not an extraneous spirit.

First practice "Core of Self". Then do protective meditations working from your core outwards to strengthen Self and create layers. Then when it is time to do magic, you can slip as far back into layers of Self as you want to raise deeper magic and to control yourself. Your emotions and outward motions can become highly energized without losing control of your inner Self, thus allowing you to focus your will. This is a tool a High Priestess will find especially useful.
Where rushing rills, with flash and flow,
Are over the rough rocks falling;
Where fox, where bear, and catamount hide,
In holes and dens In the mountain side,
A Circuit-preacher once used to ride,
And his name was Rufus Rawling.

He was set in his ways and what was strange,
If you argued with him he would not change,
One could get nothing through him.
Solemn and slow In style was he,
Slender and slim as a tamarack tree,
And always ready to disagree
With every one that knew him.

One night he saddled his sorrel mare,
And started over to Ripton, where
He had promised to do some preaching.
Away he cantered over the hill,
Past the schoolhouse at Capen's mill;
The moon was down and the place was still,
Save the sound of a night-hawk screeching.

At last he came to a deep ravine,
He felt a kind of queer, and mean
Sensation stealing o'er him.
Old Sorrel began to travel slow,
Then gave a snort and refused to go;
The parson chucked, and he holloa'd "whoa,"
And wondered what was before him.

Then suddenly he seemed to hear
A gurgling groan so very near,
It scattered his senses nearly.
"Go 'ome, go'ome," It loudly cried,
"Go 'ome," re-echoed the mountain side,
"Go 'ome," away In the distance died-
He wished he was home sincerely.

And then before his startled sight,
A light flashed out upon the night
That seemed to "beat all creation."
Then through the bushes a figure stole,
With eyes of fire and lips of coal,
That froze his blood and shook his soul
With horror and consternation.

He lost his sermon, he dropped his book,
His hair stood up, and his saddle shook
Like a sawmill under motion.

No cry he uttered, no word he said,
But, suddenly turning Sorrel's head,
Away and out of the woods he fled
As fast as he could for Goshen.

The ghost he saw and the rattling bones
Were a pumpkin, a gourd, and some gravel stones,
That gave him all that glory;
But ne'er again up that mountain side,
In the light would Rufus Rawling ride,
And many a time I've laughed till I cried
To hear him tell the story.
This is my favorite Sabbath as it is a great time of celebration. It is the Celtic New Year, the end of the harvest, the time when the veil between the worlds is thinnest, and time to let go of the old and plant the new. Many different cultures have their traditions for celebrating this time of year. The Celts held bonfires and would dance and feast with their gods and spirits wandering the night. Mexicans have parades for Dios de los Muertos and picnics with their departed loved ones at their graves. Americans, well pig out on candy and wear silly costumes :) Halloween-American-style is a fun time to both be scared by death and laugh at our fear of it.

Some of my favorite ways to celebrate is by having a dinner for the dead. This is a private event for me usually as it is a silent dinner. I decorate my home with harvest colors, spice scented candles, and dark draperies. Remembering the loved ones I have lost this year and previous years, I cook a feast, trying to include some of their favorite foods. At midnight I open the door and leave a black candle to light the way. I set the table for my loved ones and myself. In silence I say a prayer of thanks for all the joys they brought into my life and the lessons they shared. After dinner I place their plates outside so they may feast on their journey. In the morning I place their food in a composte pile, if I have one, so the food of the dead may nourish the new plants of the living in Spring. Leaving my front door open is not a problem because Texas doesn't normally become cold until Thanksgiving. If it is storming or too cold to leave the door open, a candle in the window is also a way to welcome in your loved ones.

A way to celebrate with friends and family is to have a small bonfire. Dancing around the fire to raise energy, toss pieces of paper into the fire with things you'd like to burn away. Release the old, letting it die in the fire never to return. Feast, dance, sing and have a jubilant time! Death sweeps away what is no longer needed on this plane and makes way for new blessings, allowing our departed loved ones to continue their journeys. Then write down the blessings you wish to welcome in the new year and either burn them in the fire so your prayer is released with the smoke, or add it to a composte pile or bag of soil so your wishes may grow with the plants.

Divination, such as tarot reading, is often more powerful at this time of year as our guides commune with us across the veil. Spend time reading tarot, scrying, and dreaming as you walk through the veil. Remember not to feast in fairy land if you happen to wander there.

I hope you all have a jubilant time feeling the hightened energy of the Earth before nature turns dormant in preparation for the winter to come!
Most commonly it is a form of divination in which tools, such as pendulums or rods, are used to divine the location of underground water, lost items or missing people.

I personally have only worked with dowsing once. My High Priestess received dowsing rods that were wrapped in copper as a Yule gift and taught me how to use them. Craddling the rods so they could swing freely, I thought of my ink pen, which she had hidden while I was in another room. The rods swung back and forth as I walked around the room, and when they were over the place the pen was they snapped together.

Because I enjoy working with scrying and had success with the dowsing rods, I look forward to getting my own set someday. According to Dowsing.com, "dowsing is an intuitional science and can be learned. As witches, our bodies are our tool for all magical workings - our hands are our athame and wand, our bodies our chalice, and the space we are in our altar. Like any system that power travels through, the clearer and more conductive the lines the better the power can flow; such as with water pipelines or electrical systems. With our bodies we can limit or increase the level of magic we can raise by altering our health.

Our bodies continually produce electricity which is circulated through our bodies by our nerves and chemical reactions between our cells via electrolytes. Our energetic bodies, also known as our subtle bodies, have a circulation system just like our physical bodies. An energy field exists around each person and is called the aura. The aura is like the skin of the subtle body and absorbs and gives off energy in a continual flow. The seven chakras, located at the top of the head, forehead, throat, chest, solar plexes, abdomen and genitals, are the entry/exit points into our system. The energy around us is absorbed into our aura and pulled in through our chakras. It is then transformed into subtle energy, much like our digestive system takes in food and transforms it into chemical energy we can use. Energy flows between the chakras through channels known as the nadis. Then it flows along meridians to our organs and physical systems to breathe life into our cells.

As scientists are proving more and more, we witches already know that the energy of our subtle bodies affects our physical health. But how many remember that the opposite is also true? The health of our subtle body is intricately entwined with the health of our emotions, spirit and physical body. If your body is unable to perform the tasks it was assigned to do, it sends out negative pulses saying "I can't". This sends ripples through your energy that are aggravating and can impede the flow of energy. Many healing forms have been developed to clear these flow blockages - acupuncture, aura clearing, and smudging to name a few. Energy healing forms are only a piece of the equation though. The root problem is diet, exercise and stress management. As you show respect for yourself by feeding your body the nutrients it needs to make more cells, exercising to improve your strength and cardiovascular systems, and manage stress by letting go of the unimportant, your energy levels will increase. Your body will radiate to your subtle body "I can. I am healthy".
The ability to send reiki energy is given by a teacher, Reiki Master, to a student through attunements. During the attunement I will attune your energy to the reiki energy. After a Reiki I attunement you can send reiki to another directly through touch. After a Reiki II attunement you can use sacred reiki symbols to send reiki to another over long distance.
Our homes are our places of rest and rejuvenation from the daily grind. Throughout our day our personal energy ebbs and flows as we experience various emotions, and we can pick up energy from other people and places. Because everything is matter and all matter vibrates, our personal energy vibrates continuously - the vibrations higher when we're healthy and positive, and lower when we're sick and negative. Homes are wonderful storehouses of energy as spaces absorb the energy that is brought into them. If your home makes you feel listless, tired, or just not as rejuvenated as it use to, it's time to clear out the old energy! Bringing reiki energy into your home will raise the vibration of your home so the lower, negative vibrations are cleared out.

As a Reiki Master I will send distance reiki to each room of your home and draw the sacred reiki symbols in the air towards each wall, floor and ceiling. Reiki itself is a universal, loving energy that works to heal and cleanse. It is not related to any religion, deity or spirit. Some people like to cleanse their homes yearly to keep the energy flowing, others to help clear out negative emotions, and still others to help clear out sickness and turn their home into a place of wellness.
