POW! Pagans of Waco

There is now a dynamic group of pagans meeting in Waco!

We are a completely eclectic group open to all pagans and pagan friendly seekers of knowledge. Our purpose is to meet others who consider themselves to be any form of Pagan so we may all learn from each other. In Waco there seems to be only 2 spiritual options; Christian or atheist. To strengthen our community and reach out to one another we will start having meetings to offer a place for everyone to share their spiritual beliefs and knowledge so we may all grow on our paths.

Group members' areas of expertise include Qi Gong, meditation, Reiki, crystal healing and Tarot reading. Areas of interest include elemental magickal theory, general history of witchcraft, sabbaths, drum circles, herb gardening and more!

Join us on Facebook to learn more about what we're doing and when we're meeting!

Dowsing Class in Dallas

The American Society of Dowsers defines dowsing as "... the name given to a quest for information, with or without the assistance of a device such as a forked stick (Y-Rod) or pendulum." Most commonly it is a form of divination in which tools, such as pendulums or rods, are used to divine the location of underground water, lost items or missing people.

I personally have only worked with dowsing once. My High Priestess received dowsing rods that were wrapped in copper as a Yule gift and taught me how to use them. Craddling the rods so they could swing freely, I thought of my ink pen, which she had hidden while I was in another room. The rods swung back and forth as I walked around the room, and when they were over the place the pen was they snapped together.

Because I enjoy working with scrying and had success with the dowsing rods, I look forward to getting my own set someday. According to Dowsing.com, "dowsing is an intuitional science and can be learned. Divining is not just a gift miraculously bestowed upon a few". So if you'd like to learn and practice dowsing, there are classes in Dallas, Tx taught by the Dowsing School on  Friday October 14th through Sunday October 16th.

If you'd like to meet other dowsers, find your local chapter of the American Society of Dowsers here.

October 2011 Reiki Class

Reiki is a Japanese energy working technique to promote healing by sending reiki energy through your hands to a person, animal or plant. The ability to send reiki energy is given by a teacher, Reiki Master, to a student through attunements. During the attunement I will attune your energy to the reiki energy. After a Reiki I attunement you can send reiki to another directly through touch. After a Reiki II attunement you can use sacred reiki symbols to send reiki to another over long distance.

Saturday October 22nd and Sunday October 23rd there will be Reiki I & II classes offered in Waco, Tx. The cost is $200 which will include both all-day classes, manuals through the International Center for Reiki Training, certificates, water and snacks. Both days will have a one hour lunch break. If you've already taken Reiki I through another teacher you're welcome to take only the Reiki II class for $125. For more information email Usui Reiki Master Tiffany Maely at Tiffany.Maely@hotmail.com.

These classes can be used for 1.5 continuing education units
for massage therapists.

I am a Usui Reiki Master and member of the International Center for Reiki Training. As such I use their training manuals and adhere to their code of ethics. For more information about the ICRT, please visit them at Reiki.org

Dallas Gay Pride Parade 2011

Don't forget that this Sunday is The Alan Ross Freedom Parade, also known as the Dallas Pride Parade. It kicks off down Cedar Springs at 2pm. Project TAG - Tyler Area Gays - will have a float in this year's parade, so we hope friends from East Texas will be able to have a wonderful weekend in D-Town!

Also, Saturday September 17th is the unofficial "Gay Day'' at Six Flags Over Texas.

Am I A Good Witch?

What really constitutes a "good" witch? Do you have to be a vegan, or never curse anyone, or know every spell ever created? No, no and no. The base definition for witch is someone who practices magick. A deeper meaning is one who is self aware, disciplined and knowledgeable enough to perform magick with powerful results. Anyone can wish on a shooting star, but a witch brings their wish into reality. Every spell you do won't work perfectly or instantly as being a witch is a path, not a destination. Continual growth and development are how we progress. So how do you continue to become more self aware, disciplined and knowledgeable? By focusing on 3 areas: healing, divination and community service.

Healing
There isn't one specific healing art you have to learn. Some of the ones I enjoy are herbalism, soul retrieval, Reiki, nutrition and fitness. The body, mind and spirit can all be injured or sickened, so I suggest learning various healing modalities while mastering one or two. Then teach what you've mastered to others. When you teach it's amazing how much more you'll learn!

Divination
Divination is the ability to see hidden knowledge through psychic means. Witches are historically marked by their ability to know information about the past, present and future magickally. Divination allows you to learn more about yourself, others, situations and decisions. Popular forms of divination include reading Tarot cards, water dowsing, and scrying. Remote viewing is a form of divination that was used by the CIA in which the viewer sees objects and places psychically. Through helping others you'll help yourself by increasing your psychic abilities.

Community Service
We are all members of our communities and should look for ways to help others. By enriching the lives of those around us we enrich ourselves, much like through teaching we learn. Through finding ways to serve others we can also share what we believe through proving we're not evil or sinister. Some ways to serve include picking up trash, volunteering at hospitals or schools, and participating in charity 5k events.

Share dreams, inspire love, heal hearts,
embrace spirits, nurture souls…

Gay Pride Parade 2011

I would just like to preference this with the statement that not all witches, Wiccans or any other pagan groups are gay, require homosexual acceptance or relationships. I just feel that as a religion open to helping people explore nature and learn about themselves, including learning more about their bodies and sexuality, that it's beneficial to everyone to support the gay/lesbian/bi communities. And as one who's been chased out of school cafeterias, lost friends, and literally had rocks thrown at me for doing what comes naturally to me, I step forward to support homosexuals who encounter the same circumstances for following what comes naturally to them.

The Alan Ross Freedom Parade, also known as the Dallas Pride Parade, is on Sunday September 18th and kicks off down Cedar Springs at 2pm. The Project TAG/East Texas PFLAG Float is in the works. If you'd like to help with the float, please contact them through their website. Also, Saturday September 17th is the unofficial "Gay Day'' at Six Flags Over Texas.
